ABOUT
Pollyanna produces queer culture in Scotland.Across cabaret, film and arts projects, we aim to celebrate LGBTQ+ performers, support artists in testing out new ideas, and create spaces that welcome communities to forge connections and be inspired to be creative.
Since 2015 Pollyanna has produced queer cabaret shows in Edinburgh, hosted by feral drag creature Pollyfilla, showcasing over 250 performers, receiving five and four star reviews. In 2020, Pollyanna: a real life show!, was filmed to camera in our home venue Paradise Palms and streamed online October 2020. From 2020 to 2023, Pollyanna has produced OMOS, a major moving image project that is currently touring in Scotland and internationally. Directed by Rhys Hollis and made with opera singer Andrea Baker, dancer Divine Tasinda and pole artist Kheanna Walker, the project pays homage to untold Black history and celebrates Black performance today. From 2022 to 2023, Pollyanna is working with a technologist to develop new software to create interactive videos that can be activated by an audience with their voice. Using this new technology, Pollyanna is producing a major new project called Sore Throat, that explores experiences of queer space in the Philippines.
Pollyanna is a project run by Icky Arts CIC. Other projects delivered by Icky Arts CIC include Edinburgh Artists’ Moving Image Festival (EAMIF), presenting screenings and events celebrating video art and films made by artists. Founder Adam Castle won the Creative Edinburgh Leadership Award 2016 in recognition of Pollyanna and EAMIF.
